What is a Pet Microchip?
A microchip is a small implant that goes beneath the skin on your pet. It contains information that identifies your pet as belonging to you. This is NOT a GPS tracker. It is more like a dog tag that can never be lost. A microchip is read by a special scanner that is carried by animal control and your local veterinarian. Once scanned, a specific number will be on display that will then lead us to your information.

Personally I have had a couple of very wonderful people catch a “stray” animal they then wanted to adopt. The first thing I do when a newly found animal is brought in is SCAN FOR A MICROCHIP. If there is no microchip and owners have been searched for then they get to keep the pet. If there is a microchip the animal will typically stay in our care until contact with the owners have been made. I have returned several animals to their correct loving homes this way.
